Trump's playbook but for a few he missed Review by Ingrid
This is a book that I have been meaning to read for years. It was very close to what I expected it to be. I didn't expect it to be as contradictory as it was. Every law has a caveat. So laws only work up to a certain point then they backfire.
What I liked were the historical references, as I appreciated concrete examples. In the future I'll listen to it again and maybe I'll like it a bit more. Given that the manipulative aspect of so many of the 'laws' are so different from how I go about the world maybe I'm uncomfortable feeling so naive. I'll stay open to give it another shot someday as one never knows how one will feel. Also, it ended too abruptly.

They saved the best part for last Review by Gregg .P
I am sure a lot of people will find this book to be cynical in philosophy, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I especially found the 46th and 47th law to be most salient. The reading was done well, and it was a good listen. Probably something that would have to be listened to a few times in order to gather the nuances of what the author is trying to convey, but there is lots of wisdom found in this book. Well done.

Whether you're an aspiring leader, an ambitious entrepreneur, or simply a student of human nature, this book offers invaluable insights and timeless wisdom to help you navigate life's complexities with grace and mastery. Not For The Faint of Heart Review by Tania
For those who consider "The 48 Laws of Power" an ominous guide, they are perceiving it through a misguided lens. This book serves as an essential tool, guiding individuals on how to protect themselves against the perilous influence of negative, deceitful, and potentially harmful individuals. The book's structure is ingeniously designed, with each law being accompanied by real historical anecdotes of transgressions or observances. These tales are nothing short of gripping and immersive, often featuring infamous leaders and influencers. Additionally, the author meticulously presents an interpretation, providing a profound understanding of each law, which is further enriched by revisiting the accompanying story. The book culminates with an impactful image, a distinguished authority's quote, and a decisive reversal, altogether reinforcing the reasons that validate the adherence to these laws. After reading, it is pertinent to meticulously reflect on personal experiences, offering a vital source for wisdom and resilience, as this book is not to be taken lightly. Reflection and prudence are paramount to the application of these laws.

The purpose of reflection and caution is an essential component of mastering the insight offered by 'The 48 Laws of Power'. Highlighting key words and impactful quotes not only solidifies their significance but also serves as a mental anchor in navigating various situations. It encourages a retrospective examination of personal experiences, intricately weaving the wisdom gleaned from these laws with one's own encounters. Furthermore, this reflection beckons the recognition of the responsibility that comes with wielding power judiciously. The book emphasizes the ardent need for delicacy and discernment when applying these laws, cautioning against reckless usage.

The power found within "The 48 Laws of Power" is not to be taken lightly. It certainly isn't a mere instructional guide to unleash upon the world. It serves as a stern warning, advising extreme caution. Each law demands careful consideration and offers a double-edged sword, capable of causing harm if misused. The book's purpose is not to manipulate or control people at whim, but instead serves as a tool for protection against those who intend to harm. Readers are urged to learn from it, not to become overbearing but to become more insightful and prepared in navigating the often treacherous sea of human interaction. The reciprocity of its potential risks and benefits should be handled with the utmost discretion.

Very dense, but extremely enlightening Review by Robert
This isnt a book you'll be able to read once through and understand most of what's trying to be taught. This is because although there are only 48 laws, Greene makes sure to explain why the laws should be followed, and when that law can be reversed. this is done through stories found across the globe exemplifying the observances and transgressions of each law.

That said you'll learn a lot if you read this book and if you truely desire power, this book can help you to obtain it.

informative but dark Review by BestBookSales Customer
it was very long. there was some disturbing parts in it but most of it was wisdom. I read this not to implement it but to watch out for people using these manipulative techniques, in that aspect I would warn that for most people it would be hard to read this and to not adopt these manipulative techniques.

48 Laws of Power - 36 of which you will enjoy. Review by Hoss H
I'm going to keep this review short, sweet and simple.

Yes, it has a number of inaccuracies when it comes to history and people. Yes, he tends to cherry pick when it comes to his anecdotes - ignoring stories and events that hurt his argument in favor of the ones that support it.

But to focus on these details is to miss the point of Robert Greene's book. By reading and/or listening to this book I began to notice the subtle ways everyone constantly jockeys for power and control. I also think it is a good resource for your writers, because sometimes he knocks an analysis out of the park.

And by sometimes I mean about... 3/4 of the time. About 36 out of 48 times.

A book for reference Review by Sheeta L
It's a good book, speaks a lot about using power, manipulating people and navigating the world. lot of laws are impractical and can't be learnt, I feel like it has to come to you almost naturally. the book gets a little daunting in the middle because the stories are not that exciting.

Power if you want to be an Asshole Review by Naxia
Two major comments.

First, many rules contradict other rules.

Second, many of these rules will be effective, yet also turn you into a complete Asshole

A great book for future Kings and Despots Review by Tommy
Wow what an amazingly narrated tale of how kings, queens, tyrants and everyday people gain power and influence through a variety of ways listed in this book.
While it does present quite evil ways of manipulation and control, listening to this I felt a little more aware of the ways people gain power over others.

Reading it will easier your life ... Review by Dhruv
It simplified the facts what happens in our daily life knowingly or unknowingly..and I also read comments before reading it ..but after reading it ..I must say it's important to read...and above all "Believe me it's not Evil"????????... Here is some stories and the justification what signifies the morals ....and if you read more books ..you will understand that here is only a part of the real stories..like here is many small part of the story "Three Musketeers"..and the real story was of a different view
.but the author took some part to justify his view on the morals line.. .. and

It will make you understand if you apply those laws you are not gonna be manipulator but you will be an achiever and a person people will love will talk to ...you will be a good listener too..you will not hurry in taking any decisions.... You will learn some simple facts to justify any person...and you will be happy from inside....it will help you to grow your personality....

This book might make people hate you. Review by Sean
The 48 laws of power are exactly what you think they are, power grabbing mechanisms. Now usually I have a pretty passive attitude on life and don't really feel the need to have much power in a sense. However in some scenarios you will have to learn how to take life by the horns and steer it how you would like, otherwise you wont have control. So this book is a pretty good handbook as to how you can take control of your life, or others if you choose to use it that way. In regards to controlling others, this book is straight up manipulation and was probably written by an actual sociopath, which is who you'd want to write a book like this. So overall, this book serves its purpose well in teaching you how to stand up for yourself and take control of your life, or it will teach you to become manipulative. Either way its a good book and I'd read it to ensure that you are able to recognize and counter these attacks.

The rules, the examples. Review by Darcell
This is a good book. All of the politicians have read or learned to play by these sudo rules. When applied to someone seeking power i feel like you understand why politicians are called liars. Ted cruz speaking empty words fir the common man. Fetterman says hes not progressive when there is a past of nothing but progressive “movements”. Joe biden supporting racist laws, then saying vote for me or you’re not black lol(i like that one). Nancy pelosi being as rich as she is. They are all playing this game of power, and this book is the blueprint.

Book review after purchase Review by AJ
One of the most interesting reads on the power dynamics and plays. It is a great book indeed for those who want to understand the game of power around them, and the tactics most often played by those who seeks to dominate and influence their surroundings.

DANGER: read at your own risk Review by Kevin
there seems to be a lot of love and hate surrounding this book, so if you are curious but unsure, this review should help you decide whether or not to buy the book, and how it will impact you

First, to understand the 48 laws of power, you must know two key ideas
1. you CAN NOT escape the power game. thinking you can "not participate" is as foolish as thinking that you could somehow escape gravity or make the sun stand still. Robert Greene explains why in the intro with some excellent examples
2. the 48 laws of power are neither good nor evil; they are just LAWS. If someone pushed a man off a cliff would you blame gravity for for his demise? This is the mindset you must adopt in order to learn a lot from this book.

A self defense weapon book that is NEEDED! Review by Jay
The 48 Laws Of Power. Not sure where to really begin, but for people that say it is an "evil" book, you are taking it the wrong way. It is a powerful, self defense book NEEDED, because it literally teaches you how to deal with people out there in the world that are negative, toxic, liars, flatterers, fake, angry, suspicious, murderers and many more. To go into in depth detail of the book, here is how it is mainly summed up.

You come across a Law. It says what it is. You then read a Transgression or Observance of the Law. Which these are real, historical stories that you will be reading. Some of these stories are cruel, fascinating, and overall jaw dropping. You'll find some of the worlds most recognized leaders and influencers in these stories.

After you read these stories or the story, the Author gives you an Interpretation. Which is basically the breakdown or meaning of what the law was taking place in the story. After reading the interpretation once, I highly recommend going back to read the story again. This way, you'll gain an even more deeper understanding of the law.

Lastly, the Author leaves you with an image, an authority (which this is a quote by someone) and a reversal. The reversal is basically the conclusion and tells you why you should follow the law.

One of the greatest book ever written. Review by Jenny
I loved it, because it made me realize that power resides within us. Some people acquire it because they starve for knowledge and they go get it, others don't get it because they choose to be mentally lazy, and spend the rest of their lives complaining. Like the 48th law delivers to us "formlessness".
